June Gould -Chair of Governing Body
I retired from teaching a few years ago having spent nearly 40 years teaching children of all ages. I believe it is vital that children receive the highest quality of education possible and that is why it is a privilege to be the Chair of Galleywood Infant School’s Governing Body.
On a personal note, I have lived in Chelmsford for many years and have 3 grown-up children. I am happy to say my grandson is a pupil at Galleywood – he loves it!
I have lived in Galleywood since 2002. My first job was at Barclays; I then joined the Charity Commission where I supported charities such as the National Trust. I joined Essex County Council in 2010, coaching school governors. I am now in a team working to improve education outcomes for Children in Care. I love spending time with my family, and have two great boys. I also enjoy sport and history. I have been a school governor since 2010, and joined governors at GIS when my son started at the school in September 2013.
As a reputation management specialist, I advise clients at Board and Executive level on organisational structure and change management, corporate governance, reputation and crisis management. This requires me to have an understanding of key departments within an organisation – legal, HR, business strategy and communication. I am a member of my company’s leadership committee and have responsibility for people management. I also play an integral role in running the business including financial management, business development and marketing. I believe I have the professional skills to successfully fulfil the role, but perhaps more importantly I believe I have the passion and drive to become a successful Governor. My family moved to Chelmsford 18 months ago and since then I have been overwhelmed by the warmth of the Galleywood local community. I am eager to become an active member of this community and keen to focus my attention on representing parents and supporting staff at what is already a wonderful school on it pursuit of continual improvement.
I am a freelance education consultant supporting school leaders in Hertfordshire, Essex and East London and former Chair of Directors of the Diocese of Chelmsford Vine Schools Trust. In a career starting well before the steam age, I have managed state-maintained education services in South East England and London. As a senior consultant in an international project management company I have helped deliver major education change projects and new school provision in the United Kingdom and abroad. I am keen to support our outstanding school on its long-term journey to continued success and achievement My wife, Hilary, is also a freelance education consultant, and we have two married daughters and four grandsons. My passions include jazz, snooker, Star Trek (original series) and Monty Python but not necessarily in that order.
I have lived in Essex all my life but only moved to Chelmsford 11 years ago. After leaving school I worked in a Corporate Bank for 3 years but left that to pursue a career in Air Traffic Control. I have been an Air Traffic Controller at Heathrow Airport for the past 20 years. I have trained and examined Air Traffic Controllers as well as holding other ATC management roles. My job affords me a generous amount of time to spend with my wife and 2 children. Both children attend GIS. In September 2018 I decided to become a Governor at this fantastic school.
I moved to Galleywood with my family four years ago. I have two children, one who started at Galleywood Infant School in 2018 and another who starts in 2019.
Before having children, I was a Science Teacher for 18 years in a variety of schools in Lewisham, Bromley and Kent. Most recently, I was Head of Science in a special school. After having two children and relocating to Essex, I am currently having a career break. I wanted to give my time and experience to help our school. I enjoy coming in to school whenever I can, from visiting classes as a Governor and helping at Forest Schools to supporting fundraising events. Being involved helps me to feel part of our wonderful Galleywood community.
